about

Adam Bohman amplified objects and strings
Martin Hackett Korg MS-10
Sue Lynch tenor saxophone, clarinet, flute, bird call

Adam Bohman and I have collaborated with many musicians since we started running The Horse Improvised Music Club and the outcomes have always been very surprising in both successful and challenging ways.
I had never played with Martin Hackett before we performed this trio, but was familiar with his music, having previously listened to him in other combinations of musicians.
Martin and I established a connection through chatting one afternoon on the train to Hither Green, travelling to Richard Sanderson’s great concert series in Manor Park in Lewisham. We found we had a lot of similar interests in music, covering a lot of different genres and decades. It was through that initial connection that we ended up forming this trio with Adam.
Special thanks to Jeff Ardron of St Austral Sound for recording, mixing and mastering this trio.
Sue Lynch [May 2023]

London-based composer, performer and artist Adam Bohman (b.1959) has ploughed a singular path in music since the mid 1970s. He studied with Phil Wachsmann at the City Literary Institute in the early 1980s which led to the formation of Morphogenesis, an innovative live electro-acoustic group. A workshop group at the Cockpit Theatre around the same time spawned Diastolic Murmurs, a music theatre duo with artist Crow. Since then, he has been very active in the free improvisation music scene in London – playing in many ad hoc combinations and organising concerts. He is a member of the London Improvisers Orchestra. Over the years, his music has been broadcast regularly and he has recorded sessions for BBC Radio 3. He has toured in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Japan.

Martin Hackett has played improvised music for many years with many people, as a member of Oxford Improvisers, the Muzzix collective of Lille, London Improvisers Orchestra, and numerous smaller ensembles; and also as a soloist. He plays a Korg MS-10 synthesiser, which he has developed into a unique sound source, as well as melodicas and an increasing array of small instruments.

Sue Lynch studied fine art at Coventry College of Art.
