Graeme Stephen guitar

I first came across Graeme Stephen at the Hippodrome Silent Film Festival in Bo'ness where he did a wonderful score for F W Murnau’s "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans" (1927).

He is also a brilliant jazz guitarist.
I’ve also played jazz guitar, but I’m now more used to playing in free situations.
This is a record of our first encounter. We discovered that we work in very different ways, so it was fascinating to find a joint approach, and that seemed to come about in the Sustained and Flinder pieces.
Most of the music took place in response to graphic scores by the artist Jo Ganter, who has been working with improvising musicians since 2014.
All the scores seem to have two parts, Questions and Answers, either in shapes or colours, so it was fairly easy to decide who was doing what. Though sometimes we swapped parts...
