about

Dave Tucker acoustic guitar

This is the first time that I have recorded a solo set not in front of an audience but in a studio setting - to get the sound that does not often translate with ad-hoc live recordings.
There was no preconceived idea of what I would do before recording, so each take was recorded on separate days with a basic set-up to provide continuity.
I process my electric guitar sound with effects, which is usually how i perform, but made the decision to perform acoustically with minimal processing.
I have performed solo on many occasions, most memorably at Seattle Improvised Music Festival, the Kunsthalle in Bern, and the LMC Guitar Festival in London, as well as other performances in the USA and Europe.

Dave Tucker began performing in the late 1970s Manchester Punk scene with Mellotron, who released a record in 1978. Between 1980-1981 Dave performed and recorded the legendary "Slates" EP with The Fall.
Since the mid 1980s, he has been resident in London and has performed and recorded with, amongst others, Evan Parker, John Stevens, Johnny Dyani, Mick Beck, Phillip Wachsmann, Barre Phillips, Otomo Yoshihide.
He is a long time member of the Alan Tomlinson Trio, the quartet Scatter (with Pat Thomas, Phil Minton and Roger Turner), as well as being a guitarist and conductor with the London Improvisers Orchestra. He has written and performed music for film and TV, including for the BBC and Channel 4.
