about

Roger Turner drums and percussion
Sandy Ewen guitar
Arthur Bull guitar
Alan Tomlinson trombone

Some aficionados might say that there’s nothing more terrifying in improvised music than two electric guitarists playing together —- all those fingers and twang-a-lang. But others may say any two of the same instrument are a lot to handle for any listener. Imagine two drummers, two pianists, indeed two of anything; all that furrowed intent... with all those fingers.
Well, Sandy Ewen and Arthur Bull manage the job with such skill and aplomb that it’s very clear they had a great time, enjoying the journey. Indeed, to this listener’s ears, they have sprung a wholly different form of the proverbial insect music; one working with attack, density and intensity in a refreshingly dangerous urban way. Lots of ears working with full-on skullduggery.
But, hang on, that is not all: smacking drum beats, rudely preposterous, interweave, and trombone sounds, made for the gods, swoop to offer salvation.
It all sounds very alive to the moment; really enough to keep any listener with a grain of salt in their ears happily away from the brink... if only, the world being the way it is...
