'Der Komponist ist eingeschlafen'

Andrea Ermke and Anais Tuerlinckx have been playing as a duo since 2012. The use of found objects was and continues to be a central starting point for both of their musical approaches.

The duo developed this radiophonic improvisation for a special edition of the program “entartet” broadcast live from the Stadthaus Ulm by Radio Free FM in September 2022.

Born in Brussels, the pianist Anaïs Tuerlinckx moved to Berlin in 2008 and has since been part of the vibrant and diverse Berlin music scene dedicated to improvisation.
In her work, Anaïs Tuerlinckx explores the inner piano. She tends towards a more physical and expansive way of playing, her performances are characterized by noise and harsh sounds, but also seek the more elegiac, airy and wide spaces. With her piano activism, she likes to get involved in public spaces outside of the concert hall.
As a music teacher, Anaïs Tuerlinckx teaches improvisation at a music school.

Since the 1990s she has been part of the core of what is called Echtzeitmusik in Berlin.

She is a member of various bands such as Sink (with Chris Abrahams, Arthur Rother and Marcello Busato), Tree (with Burkhard Beins and Chris Abrahams) and Hianadara (with Anaïs Tuerlinckx, Andrew Lafkas and Iganz Schick).
